This morning we all got up at the crack of 8am (yawn) and went to farmer’s market; we’ve been coming to the Torrance Farmer’s Market for quite some time now. One of the hallmarks of each visit is buying some Pluots from one of the vendors. If you haven’t had Pluot’s before, you need to, they are amazing. They are a mix between Plums + Apricots + crack.

The other mainstay of each Farmer’s Market visit is a trip to the Croissant-guy. He has the most amazing croissants (I normally get Ham & Cheese, Kristine gets Spinach and Cheese). He also has a very interesting background; he is Polish by ethnicity, but was raised in a French-speaking home in Spain (I think I got that right). Anyways, really nice guy (he gave us $0.50 off our croissant order today).

Next we went down to Irvine and had lunch with my Mom and my cousin Allen’s family. They’re kids (Ian and Meg) were so great and Allen’s Wife was super-nice. Lunch was at a Dim Sum place near the Irvine Kaiser facility; the food was great, I ate too much (I can still taste Cha Xiao Bao in my mouth). Initially Allen’s kids were pretty timid around me (I think I give off “creepy-uncle” pheromones) but they eventually relaxed (peekaboo is the gateway drug of playing with kids). Needless to say, we had a blast; I hadn’t seen Allen in like 3 years!
Once we got home, we relaxed for a little bit. Eventually, Kristine had to leave for dinner with friends. I stayed home and took care of our Isabel. When Kristine got home, she found that the right-side of our garage was covered in water. So I spent the better part of an hour moving everything to the dry side to air-out. But all in all, it was still a great day.
